I. Military Reservists Management

According to Article 3 of the 「Management Rules for Military Reservists」, the reserves can be classified into:

  1. Reserve officers:
    Standing officers who are suspended or retired from service according to law are to serve as military reservists. The reserve officers who are not called into the battalion or are suspended or retired from service according to law are to serve as military reservists.
  2. Reserve sergeants:
    Standing sergeants who are suspended or retired from service according to law are to serve as military reservists. Reserve sergeants who are not be called into the battalion or are suspended or retired from service according to law are to serve as military reservists.
  3. Military reservists:
    Standing soldiers who are suspended or retired from service according to law are to serve as military reservists.
    1. The status of the military reservists mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall start from the date of retirement, the date to suspense service or the date when the certificate of competency is granted.
    2. In the case of a person who is called into the battalion, the calculation shall start from the day when the call is dismissed, he or she is returned to rest as scheduled or demobilization takes effect.
    3. However, if he or she is unable to leave the battalion as scheduled, his or her status as a military reservist can be counted from the date of actual departure.

II.Management Reservist

Since the assumption of status as a military reservist, he or she should be included in the reservist management until he or she loses his or her status as a military reservist and is released from the reservist management. The relevant timing is as follows:

  1. Timing for assumption of status as a military reservist:
    1. The status of a military reservist shall be counted from the date of retirement, suspension of service or the validity date of the certificate of competency.
    2. In the case of a person who is called into the battalion, the calculation shall start from the day when the call is dismissed, he or she is returned to rest as scheduled or demobilization takes effect.
    3. If the above-mentioned person is unable to leave the battalion as scheduled, his or her status as a military reservist can be counted from the date of actual departure.
  2. Timing for the loss of status as a military reservist:
    1. Demobilized according to law.
    2. Exempted according to law.
    3. Banned according to law.
    4. Returned to rest as scheduled according to law.
    5. Transferred according to law.
    6. Loss of nationality according to law.
    7. Called into the battalion.
    8. Death.
Reservists include reserve military officers, reserve non-commissioned officers and reserve privates. As soon as the status of a military person turns into that of a reserve, he or she should be included in the reserve management system until he or she is completely relieved from military obligation
